The Theme

Black, burgundy, antique gold and aged parchment tones. The phrases are mysterious, moody and a little theatrical, the kind of words you would find written in the margins of an old haunted book.

What Are Phrase Strips?

Phrase strips (also called word strips, sentiment strips or quote labels) are short printed phrases you cut out and add to journal pages, cards and collages. They give a spread a title, a mood or a small story without any handwriting.

Perfect For

• Gothic, Halloween and witchy junk journals
• Dark academia and Victorian style journals
• Book of shadows and spell journals
• Halloween cards, invitations and party decor
• Art journals and collage art
• Planner headers for October

How To Use

Cut each phrase along its outline and layer it over your ephemera, photos and patterned papers. Use them as page titles, journaling prompts, tag labels or tiny poetic accents. They look especially striking over black paper, torn book pages and lace.

Printing Tips

• Print on 100–160 gsm matte paper for thin, easy to layer strips
• Sticker paper is perfect for quick planner labels
• Choose "actual size" or "100%" in your printer settings
• A paper trimmer makes straight strips quick and neat
